In our Facebook group, we approve every member who requests to join. Why? We want to keep out spammers and ensure the group is completely focused on Machining. Usually we get around 50 members requesting to join per day.

But for a few days in early January, we were getting a couple hundred per hour. 🔥🚀 All because of this post.

👷‍♂️ hireCNC Featured Job - Aurora, IL

A hireCNC Approved Employer has just made a big commitment to getting the right person in their shop.

I've previously posted about a shop in Aurora, IL that's looking for a CNC Lathe programmer/Machinist at $40 - $50/hour and although we've interviewed some strong candidates, we're still looking for the right person.

So, after a discussion with the employer, they've decided to increase the pay range to $50 - $60/hr. They know this is a huge jump but they also know that getting the right person in, will pay for itself very quickly.

The right person looks like this:

  • Strong Mastercam experience

  • Lathe experience (must be mill turn with dual spindle, dual turret)

  • Eurotech machine experience gets you a guaranteed interview but similar machines will work as well

  • Must be a USA resident

This is a Full time direct hire position.

One dude in the group asked:

A few of the answers…

  • Any oil is better than none, in my experience”

  • When I was in college to be a machinist, was in 1990. At the time, rapid tap had been outlawed because they found the original recipe was extremely carcinogenic. A couple years later the new formula was on the market, but while I was in college, ATF was what we used for drilling & tapping”

  • “Any real machinists will tell you yes. Armchair experts and keyboard warriors over here using WD-40 .

  • “Is it ideal? No. Is it better than nothing? Yes.”

  • “Yes, but; it makes a very poor cutting fluid that cooks off at relatively low temps.”

  • “There are plenty of better choices, but yes atf will work as cutting oil.”
